| Rosemary Mackley I am a retired teacher and manager of examinations for a London Exams. Board for 22years. I moved to Wales to be near a daughter and grandsons, and was lucky enough to be allowed to renovate a Cow shed and Threshing barn on the field next to them--very different to the Kent suburbs! I started my singing ‘career' in 1954 with the Orpington Junior Singers,, travelling the world and singing on radio and television during my teens, which kept me out of trouble for some time! I have never stopped singing since, with the local choral societies, Louis Halsey and the Allegri Singers for 10 years , the London based Philharmonia Chorus for 12, and the English Concert Singers (of which I am still a member, for 15 years. Choral singing is the only media form where you are able to perform as equals, with professionals , and has brought me into contact with many wonderful people. Belonging to choirs has allowed me to sing all round the world--East and West- in many marvellous venues and places I would not otherwise have seen and has made me many friends. |
