| Valerie Adams ~ Soprano I am new to GBS and relatively new to choral singing. I grew up in a house filled with light music – particularly the songs from music halls and musicals that my mother loved. I read English at Sussex, and then worked in London, first for the MoD, then as a Research Associate at King's College (London) and a Specialist Adviser to the House of Commons. I moved to Abergavenny in 1989 and joined Abercapella, a community choir singing mainly folk and world music. About three years ago, I joined Llangattock church choir and was introduced to the joys (and occasional perils) of choral singing. Since then, I have sung with Blaenau Gwent Chorale, taken part in a Mozart Requiem as part of the Cambridge music festival in 2003 and sung in the premier of a new Karl Jenkins work, Travels with my Uncle , at St Donat's in 2004. I have three children aged from 13 to 23 and I work in Community Education in Blaenau Gwent, where I teach adult literacy and numeracy and French. I am delighted to have been accepted into the Gwent Bach Society.
